Smart is often good, but not always.

There are many types of 'smart switches' but although they are technically advanced, they don't always make life easier.
Thinking "isn't that neat" isn't the same as thinking "this really makes life easier".

Some switches that are useful for the right situation:

• Wirelessly controllable switches Sometimes it can be very hard and very expensive to add the wiring to control something. 

• Programable, automatic timer for exhaust fans Some newer homes are very hight efficiencty ratings with tightly sealed homes. Ventilation of air is sometimes needed for saftery. (Carbon monoxide build-up would not be good.)
